The purpose of this page is to share examples of tools that teachers are using on wikis. This is not a comprehensive list or the only way to include these items. It is just a list of examples of what can be done to get you excited about what's out there. All of the samples on this page were created using FREE online tools.

Still pictures are used to add humor to these students' postings. http://www.picnik.com/ is a great site for photo editting.
Upload pictures to www.photobucket.com and embed the picture into the wiki. In PhotoBucket copy the code to embed the photo and in Edit mode on the wiki page choose Embed Widget on the Wiki Editor toolbar. Then choose Other Html and paste the code into the text box and Save. It won't be displayed on the wiki page until after you Save the page. Here's an example:

"Upload and share your presentations and documents on SlideShare." Put your PowerPoints online. This is an example. Notice how the Organization Chart did not upload properly. The sounds, Animations, and Action Buttons were also disabled.
Go ToonDoo to create a cartoon. You'll need to register for a free account. After creating a cartoon use the Embed button to see the html code. Copy the code to embed the video. In Edit mode on the wiki page choose Embed Widget on the Wiki Editor toolbar. Then choose Other Html and paste the code into the text box and Save. It won't be displayed on the wiki page until after you Save the page. Here's an example:
(Glitch Fixer: When pasting the embed code into a wikispaces widget I received an error. This was fixed by simply deleting the last paragraph (so to speak) of the embed code--from "<a border =" to "</a>" at the end of the code.)
Video
You can embed video from YouTube, TeacherTube, or GoogleVideo. This can be a video that you find or one that you uploaded yourself.
Find a video and Copy the code to embed the video. In Edit mode on the wiki page choose Embed Widget on the Wiki Editor toolbar. Then choose Other Html and paste the code into the text box and Save. It won't be displayed on the wiki page until after you Save the page. Here's an example:

"Gadgets powered by Google are miniature objects made by Google users like you that offer cool and dynamic content that can be placed on any page on the web." You can use the same directions as for videos above to embed a gadget. There are hundreds of gadgets at Google Gadgets for Your Webpage. Here's an example that shows the current weather:
Here's some guidance on how to Googlize a Lesson. "Take your old worksheets, slide shows, and web quests and add a twist of Google to make creative, collaborative, and engaginglessons!"
Another place to create mindmaps is http://bubbl.us/ "Bubbl.us is a simple and free web application that lets you brainstorm online."

Visit http://prezi.com/ for a great tool to create presentations like you've never seen before! In the example below click on the Play button (triangle) repeatedly to move through the presentation.

This is my sample. For student safety I chose that VoiceThread would not be displayed in searches or the browse function of VoiceThread, but it is open for comments from anyone so those visiting my wiki can add comments. The students interview various people. It's amazing! They even have a how to page http://collaborationnation.wikispaces.com/How-to+Pages to help you add podcasts to your wiki.
